*sigh*

So, I guess I didn't dodge the bullet after all. As you may recall, with this practice, I see a different doctor at each appointment. Because it's so big, you just never know who will end up delivering the baby, so they try and have you meet them all beforehand. I met a new doc on Wednesday and she's very nice, but she decided that she was going to diagnose me with gestational diabetes after all. She said she had another look at those test results, and even though I didn't fail by much, I still failed and she wanted to go ahead and treat me for GD.

Sooo, we had an ultrasound Thursday night so Logan (who is still Logan by the way...there's no mistaking the goods now!) could be measured and an approximate weight and age could be gathered from that data. Even with all of this modern technology, it's still not a precise science. According to his measurements, he's about 6.5 lbs (+/- 1 lb), and around 37 weeks old (+/- 17 days...LOL). So theoretically, if he went to term (9/28) at the rate he's going, he could potentially be a 10 lb baby. But, I'm not sure how they'll interpret the new due date (9/12), since the +/- is so huge. I guess I'll find that out on Wednesday at my next appointment, where I have to have a non-stress test. That's where they put an external fetal heart monitor around my stomach and gauge the baby's heartrate while he's moving around in there.

Meanwhile, I had to go to get nutritional and diabetic counseling today. The good news is, I don't think I'll have to change my diet much at all, but I mostly have to spread my carbs around throughout the day, rather than eating them all at once in 3 meals. So I get 3 meals and 3 snacks and have to test my blood glucose levels 4 times a day. It's not so bad...the lancet is much smaller than the ones I've seen before and didn't really hurt at all. Still a pain in the ass? Yep. but if it helps the boy out, we're all for it!
