NY Baby Shower!
Whew! Well, both showers are over and all I can say is...this kid is rolling in loot! Mom and I went up Saturday. Unfortunately, we were later getting there than we had hoped due to major delays from construction on I-81. We were just late enough to not put the balloons up in front of Jamie's house in time for Aunt Joni, who spent 45 minutes driving past it 3 times! But she made it (yay!) and wasn't late at all. My Aunts Pat and Debbie were there as well as 2 of my cousins, and Joanne brought her 14 year old daughter, who is so grown-up looking! It's hard to believe Jo is 40 this year, but she looks awesome!
My friends from high school, Tracie and Sabrina were there and it was really great to see those guys again. We ended up talking about how old we were getting and that our 20th reunion is next year! Wow...that is a mind-blower! They're planning the reunion, so we even have a date set and everything. It's supposed to be next July. I can't wait to show Jon more of Harpursville...talk about culture shock for him!
As a total surprise guest, Jamie invited Julie Dietrich, who was my high school volleyball coach! It was amazing to see her again, as a matter of fact, it took me a double-take to recognize her, mostly because her hair was totally different and I wasn't expecting to see her. It has been 20 years, after all! But she's still the same bubbly, fun person she was back then.
Mom and Jamie did a great job with the shower and it turned out so well. Thanks, you two! Logan has so many nice, new things and we're all super lucky to have friends and family that care about us so much. I want to give a special shout-out to Jamie's daughter, Megan, who not only helped her dad set the party up, but played waitress and present fetcher too!
Yesterday, Mom and I picked up her rental truck and met AJ, Uncle Rick, Richie and Pete at the storage unit to load it up. Well, they did most of the work. I mostly just carried a few small boxes and drawers. It was pretty hot, but I guess not as hot as it could have been, so we were lucky. It didn't take very long with everyone working. Jon and Bob are going to help her unload it this afternoon. Hopefully, it goes as smooth for them! It took us about 4 hours to get home last night because of a) TONS of traffic on I-81 and b) more damn construction on the south side. It took us 45 minutes to an hour to get through a 12 mile stretch of 1 lane traffic. Ugh! But, we made it finally.
It's a busy week this week! We have our baby care class tonight, our childbirth class tomorrow night, where we'll be taking the tour of the L&D floor at Harrisburg Hospital, and then our Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick concert Thursday night. That should be a lot of fun, but I'm definitely bringing a cushion to sit on!
P.S. I'll have some pics as soon as Jamie e-mails them to me...dummy me...I totally forgot the camera
